Music That Transports You to the Fabled Silk Road

Beautiful, Alluring and Energetic !

Vi An Diep is an independent world-music recording artist and intuitive improviser who specializes on long-plucked Asian zither instruments from China, Japan and Vietnam.

Her interest for the Chinese – zheng (jiun) long-plucked zither began at age 6 at a Chinese summer school in Calgary.  By age 10, she produced her first full length album.

Her passion eventually lead to a music career creating her own style of instrumental and electronic music, and performing and collaborating with professional musicians and productions.

I am a proponent of ancient Asian long-plucked zithers. The harp-like sounding instrument opens endless possibilities for freedom of expression.

As the late thinker and author Terrence McKenna once said, “… it is the simultaneous nostalgia for the past and the future… ultimately the driving force of great creative spirits… – Vi An Diep

Music, said Diep is her most effective creative outlet.  Her other creative outlet are fashion design, drawing, painting, dancing, writing, volunteering, public speaking, acting and living.

A self-taught musician, she also plays keyboards, synthesizers, samplers, piano and percussion.

Her creative talents has won her nominations and awards including:

  • 2016 Nominated for Interesting Vancouver Award
  • 2013 Nominated for the Betty Mitchell Award for Best Original musical score for the production of “Elephant Song” with the Green Fools Theatre (Calgary, Alberta)
