Vancouver Cantonese Opera Features Live Make Up Demonstration and Performance
The “Guangdong Drama” as is its known is a combination of different operatic styles blends Chinese legend, music, martial arts and drama into a performing art.
The Vancouver Cantonese Opera is a non-profit society incorporated in 2000. Their mission is to preserve and promote Cantonese opera in Canada.

Festival visitors will have the opportunity to witness detailed preparations, including applying the signature Chinese opera makeup.
Artistic director Rosa Cheng and her partner will offer visitors a close look on how makeup is done in the two and a half hour session on Saturday, July 6 starting at 11:30 am beside the Green Room.
A live performance will follow at 2:00 p.m.
